Kentucky Wildcats at LSU Tigers final score: Tigers beat Wildcats 87-82

The LSU Tigers defeated the No. 11 Kentucky Wildcats 87-82 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  The Tigers improved to 13-6 (4-3 SEC), and the Wildcats fell to 15-5 (5-2 SEC).

Johnny O’Bryant III scored 29 points along with nine rebounds to help LSU defeat Kentucky in their first meeting of the season.  The two teams will meet again on February 22nd.

LSU built up a 13-point lead with 1:13 to go, but the Wildcats hit four three-pointers to make the final minute count.  However, LSU’s Anthony Hickey made two free-throws, and O’Bryant made a layup with 23 seconds left to seal the deal for the Tigers.

LSU top performers: Johnny O’Bryant see above.  Shavon Coleman scored 14 points along with nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Jordan Mickey netted 14 points and grabbed six boards.  Anthony Hickey finished with 11 points, six dimes, and three steals.

Kentucky top performers:  James Young scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and two assists.  Dakari Johnson netted 15 points and grabbed six boards.  Aaron Harrison had 14 points and six rebounds.  Alex Poythress finished with 10 points and seven boards.

Next game: LSU plays Arkansas on February 1st at 5 pm ET.  Kentucky plays at Missouri on February 1st at 1 pm ET.
