Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has never been a fan of speaking with the media, so it was not a surprise when he was not given a podium for today’s Super Bowl Media Day at the Prudential Center.

Media Day is mandatory for all players on the participating rosters of the Super Bowl teams, but Lynch is reportedly considering skipping the event and being a no-show.

If he chooses that, there will be a very costly fine.

Lynch was fined $50,000 for not speaking with the media this year, but the league suspended the fine if Lynch agreed to do his media appearances moving forward. So it Lynch ultimately decides to skip today’s event, he will be fined the initial $50,000 and then an additional $50,000.

The problem for Lynch is that he doesn’t like being forced to speak with anyone, so if he decides to show up this afternoon we shouldn’t expect to hear many quote worthy sound bites.

“If you’re forced to do something, it’s not as good as if you choose to do it,” Lynch told Mike Silver of the NFL Network.  “So no, I won’t have a lot of interesting things to say.  When you’re forced to do something and you know it, it kind of just takes away from the whole experience of what it could be if [it were] natural. So, I’ll probably give forced answers.”

It is going to be interesting to see whether or not Lynch shows up for Super Bowl Media Day, but it appears that he is leaning towards not showing up.
