Wade has been skipping practices and even games to limit wear and tear on his knees but recently told Sam Amick that the rumors of him becoming a sixth man are bogus.
The Heat’s Dwyane Wade on whether his new sixth man role is here to stay: “We can quit that conversation right now.”
Wade, who has been absent from the lineup often, recently came off the bench as he returned from injury which prompted some to suggest Wade may turn to that role permanently to persevere his knees.
The veteran clearly wasn’t having any of that talk though (understandably).
Thankfully for the Heat and Wade, with travel limited and games spaced out, the All-Star talent should be able to play at a high level come the NBA’s postseason. Getting there healthy seems to be the problem, so it may be best served to continue Wade’s random absences from the lineup until the playoffs near.
