Feldman would choose Evans as the top WR http://t.co/fGqQEqqQ0I

Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports is making the argument that Mike Evans of Texas A&M is the top wide receiver in the 2014 NFL Draft. Johnny Manziel’s top target this past year has the size and build to be a great player with an uncanny ability to go up and get the football. Feldman is quick to point out that he might be biased as he has spent the last few months around Evans writing a book, but suggests that Evans will run a 4.4 if not better when he is timed. He notes Evans’ ability after the catch.
The knocks against Evans are his route running as he has an unorthodox style of running routes. For instance, he is not afraid to go outside and play near the sideline when conventional wisdom would suggest he should fight for real estate into the field. There are also some that will criticize Evans because of how often he made plays after plays broke down and Manziel improvised. There is more talent and technique involved in what Evans is doing in that than some might give credit, but because he is not winning in a traditional sense on those plays, it can be difficult to project successfully at the next level.
