The No. 2 for Texas A&M Aggies has a lot of meaning after quarterback Johnny Manziel’s tenure with the number, which included a Heisman trophy. While some might think the number is now sacred, it isn’t retired and available to be worn. Incoming five-star recruit Speedy Noil will be donning the number in the 2014 season.
From the Dallas Morning News:
While debates rage on about whether Manziel should see his number two retired or have a statue erected, another Aggie player will already be wearing Manziel’s old number.
Early enrollee and five-star receiver recruit Speedy Noil tweeted that his number entering spring football will wear the number two, the number that so many Aggie jerseys now display thanks to Manziel. Click here to see the tweet.
The only number that has been retired by the Aggies belongs to another Heisman trophy winner, John David Crow. Of course it wasn’t for another 56 years, which means Manziel has a ways to go before seeing his jersey retired.
