The North Carolina Tar Heels got a big commitment from 3-star offensive guard Jared Cohen on Tuesday night.

According to Tom Loy of 24/7 Sports, who broke the story, Cohen “committed to the Tar Heels during an in-home visit with offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic.”

The 6’3, 305-pound Cohen attends the Mcdonogh School in Owings Mills Maryland and committed to the hometown Maryland Terrapins way back in February of 2013. However, after taking an official visit to Maryland in December, he decided to decommit and open things up. Many pundits figured Cohen was opening things up take a harder look at new head coach James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions, but Cohen decided on the Tar Heels after taking an official visit to Chapel Hill last week.

Cohen was also interested in the Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina State Wolfpack, among others. For more on Cohen’s commitment, check out our North Carolina blog’s story over at Keeping it Heel.
