The LSU Tigers’ big in-state recruiting year continued on Wednesday night when they got a commitment from 3-star athlete Russell Gage.
Gage attends Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was extremely excited to get an offer from the hometown Tigers.
“This is something I dreamed about and prayed about for a while now,” Gage told Robin Fambrough of the Advocate. “I knew LSU was where I wanted to go, so I waited for an offer. Once I got it, there was no question about what I’d do.”
Gage officially visited LSU over the weekend and it didn’t take him long to commit.
“It really is a dream come true for me,” Gage explained. “I guess I started following LSU when I was nine. I’ve always wanted to wear the purple and gold and run out of the tunnel for a game. It can’t get any better than that.”
Gage played seemingly every position in high school, including running back, but likely projects as a defensive back in college.
Gage chose LSU over Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss and Tulane, among others.
