5-star defensive end Chad Thomas has been a Miami Hurricanes commitment since July and appeared to be one of the most solid members of their class.
However, lately, Thomas has started to look around. He officially visited the Florida State Seminoles over the weekend and will be taking an official visit to the Alabama Crimson Tide this weekend, the final weekend before National Signing Day on February 5.
On Tuesday, Thomas told Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald that he was “1000 percent” committed to Miami, citing the music program as the main reason.
However, when Thomas went more in depth about his commitment, he didn’t rule the Seminoles completely out.
Is he worried about making fans at one school or the other unhappy by saying the wrong thing?
“I don’t care about that,” he responds.
“So,” the reporter sums up, “You’re solid to Miami but considering FSU?”
“That’s correct,” Chad says.
Thomas is considered the 26th best player in the class of 2014, the third best weakside defensive end and fifth best player in Florida, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
One of Thomas’ teammates at Booker T. Washington in Miami, Florida, 4-star quarterback Treon Harris, is currently committed to Florida State (although he is still looking at the Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators and Miami) and another, 4-star cornerback Nigel Bethel, decommitted from Miami to choese the Texas Tech Red Raiders just a few weeks ago.
