The Iowa Hawkeyes got a commitment from a player they hope can provide an instant impact on their defensive line when they landed 3-star junior college defensive end Torey Hendrick on Tuesday night.
The 6’4, 230-pound Hendrick is originally from Dawsonville, Georgia and spent the last two seasons playing for the Atlanta Sports Academy College .
He chose Iowa over offers from the Arizona State Sun Devils, Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats, Mississippi State Bulldogs, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Rutgers Scarlet Knights and West Virginia Mountaineers, among others.
“Since I ran into situations with the NCAA, they’ve been the most consistent school since the beginning since they offered me in the summer,” Hendrick said of Eric Johnson and the Iowa coaching staff via Steve Wiltfon of 24/7 Sports. “They haven’t missed a step in recruiting me. Even after I ran into some problems this past December, they didn’t shy away and waited to see what my situation was. They wanted me and made it clear they wanted to have me.”
Hendrick is considered the seventh best junior college defensive end in the class of 2014.
