The New York Knicks have been playing better lately. After an abysmal start, they finally are healthy, and they look more engaged. They are still outside the playoff race in the terrible Eastern Conference, but you can see the improvement.

In Tuesday night’s dismantling of the Boston Celtics, the ball movement was good, they were showing better effort on defense , and they looked more like the team that won 54 games last season. The Knicks could have fired coach Mike Woodson a while ago, but owner James Dolan has showed some patience, and it may pay off.

“I just think the guys are more committed now,” Coach Mike Woodson said via the New York Times. “We don’t have a lot of room for error.” You can bet on the Knicks making the playoffs, even if it’s the seventh or eighth seed. Carmelo Anthony has been great all season, and it looks like he could finally could be getting some help.

Of course, saying their problems are fixed is premature. They could go right back to the Knicks that we saw earlier this season, and Woodson could be right back on the hot seat. As for now, New York is playing a lot better on both ends of the court.
