The San Antonio Spurs are getting hit from all sides by the injury bug.
Already down multiple players, the Spurs lost Manu Ginobili recently after he suffered what was thought to be a hamstring injury. Ginobili was expected to be sidelined for the immediate future but the hope was that he’d be able to return to the court soon.
Unfortunately, that won’t be the case as Ginobili did indeed suffer a hamstring injury – a strain specifically – which will keep him out of action for the next 3-4 weeks according to Eye on Basketball:
Spurs announce Manu out 3-4 weeks with strained hamstring. Now out Manu, Green, Kawhi, and Splitter.
The Spurs’ depth was already being tested but now with Ginobili out for an extended period, San Antonio is going to giving heavy minutes to non-rotation players. Obviously not something they envisioned early in the season, though thankfully resting some of their ‘stars’ in games has provided experience for the backups..
We all know how tricky hamstring injuries can be, so hopefully Ginobili gets his needed rest and will be healthy for the remainder of the season when he does return.
