There have been trade rumors leaking out of New York in recent weeks that involve the Rangers making significant changes to their roster before the March 5th deadline. One of the names we’re starting to hear a lot about is Ryan Callahan but Darren Dreger from TSN is also reporting that Dan Girardi may also be on his way out of New York as well.
Dreger and Bob McKenzie mentioned recently that both Rangers players could be on the move if the team fails to re-sign them ahead of either of the upcoming trade deadlines this season.
Of the two players on the market, Dreger mentioned that the Rangers feel more confident about their chances of re-singing Girardi than they are Callahan, which may ultimately mean only one of them gets traded before the deadline assuming a trade is made at all.
There’s no guarantee that the team will move either of the players, but if a deal isn’t worked out between the Rangers and Callahan before either the February 7th or March 5th deadline, we may see him wearing a new sweater for the second half of the season.
