Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen believes that Serie A side AC Milan want to sign on-loan midfielder Adel Taarabt.
The 24-year old Moroccan international is on loan from QPR for the length of the 2013/14 season, but could be used as part of a swap deal for Milan defender Christian Zaccardo, reports the BBC.
“There has been some interest [in Taarabt] – that is all I know so far,” said the Fulham manager. “I have no concrete news.”
Taarabt did not appear in Tuesday’s defeat to Swansea, strengthening rumours of his departure from Craven Cottage.
Having started his career in England with Tottenham in 2007, Taarabt moved to QPR on a permanent deal in 2010, after two spells on loan at Loftus Road.
During QPR’s promotion campaign in 2010/11, Taarabt was named the club’s player of the season, with his performances helping them to the Championship title. He joined Fulham on loan following the R’s relegation at the end of last season.
While Taarabt may be departing Fulham, one rumoured arrival is Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou, with a bid of $19 million made to the Greek club.
“I can’t really discuss [Mitroglou] at this time, because I need to have a chat with [Fulham chief executive] Alistair Mackintosh,” added Meulensteen. “He will know exactly what the situation is regarding the player.”
