UFC 169: The BJ Penn connection

Former UFC Welterweight and Lightweight champion, BJ Penn, is set to return to the Octagon in 2014. Before he makes his way back to the cage, he will be the head coach alongside Frankie Edgar for TUF 19. Once the show wraps up, Edgar and Penn will battle for the third time, but this time at Featherweight.

Penn is currently training at Nova Uniao alongside Featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, and Bantamweight champion, Renan Barao. Both Aldo and Barao will be defending their titles against Urijah Faber and Ricardo Lamas respectively this weekend at UFC 169.

The UFC has produced a short segment with Jose Aldo and Renan Barao talking about Penn’s impact on their training camp. Obviously having a legend like Penn assist you in training could do wonders come fight night, and both Aldo and Barao recognize that. It will be interesting to see if there is any notable adjustments come fight night. If either Barao or Aldo are victorious on Saturday night, will they mention Penn in the post fight interview?
