Before the Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat Wednesday night match up, a game that everyone was looking forward to, LeBron James was asked if Kevin Durant had become a better passer over the season. James had a very candid, and regrettable answer.
“That is retarded to me,” James said. “Kevin Durant is great at being a passer.”
This isn’t the first time James has had to apologize for using the word. In 2011 he used the word when referring to a reporter’s question and apologized the following day when advocacy groups begin to got on him. This time he apologized after the game on his own in a press conference before anyone got onto him.
“I used the word retarded before,” he said, via Sun-Sentinel. “Obviously, it had nothing to do with kids that are underprivileged. There’s no knock on them. It’s a word that’s been around for a long time where I grew. It’s a bad habit, so I try to break it. If I use it again, I’m going to try to do my best not to. I mean no disrespect.”
