Mike London adds Mike Archer to UVa staff

For the second time in his coaching career, Mike Archer will be a Virginia Cavalier.

The school issued on a statement on Thursday announcing Archer will join Mike London’s staff as a defensive assistant coach. Archer, who served as North Carolina State’s defensive coordinator from 2007-12, worked as a linebackers coach at UVa during the 1991 and 1992 seasons.

London said he was excited by the hire:

I’m pleased to announce the hiring of Mike Archer to complete my staff. Coach Archer has excellent coaching credentials and a track record of accomplishments. He will be a great teacher for our defensive players and his prior relationship with Coach Tenuta will be a tremendous asset in our preparation for the upcoming season (Virginia Sports).

For those unaware, John Tenuta worked with Archer at NC State for three years.

Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame has yet to offer his thoughts on the hiring. (Mine? I think Sterling Archer would have been a flashier hire, but it’s hard to argue with Mike Archer’s, uh, sterling résumé.)
