Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn is one of the most-loved players among the team’s fan base, but they are in danger of watching him walk away from Lambeau as a free agent in March. However, if Kuhn gets his wish, he will be returning to Green Bay.
While the two sides have not had any contract talks, Kuhn’s agent, Kevin Gold, is optimistic that his client will be able to re-sign with the Packers during the free agency period.
“I assume there’s interest on both sides, and (us) having him come back and hopefully they want him back,” Gold said, via PackersNews.com. “It’s a good fit and he likes it (in Green Bay), he lives there. That’s definitely his priority, and I assume it’s their’s, too.”
Gold expects to speak with team vice president Russ Ball at the scouting combine in late February in Indianapolis.
Every time Kuhn touches the ball, a deafening chant takes over Lambeau Field, but his impact on the field is equally impressive.
Kuhn is very familiar with the team’s offensive scheme and he is the best pass blocker among the team’s backs that is currently on the roster, so his versatility and value for the team is undeniable. Kuhn is also responsible for assisting with the pre-snap protection calls.
“It shows his versatility and ability,” Gold said. “I think they understand that, and he knows it’s probably the best place for him. So hopefully we can get it worked out before March even rolls around.”
Whether or not Kuhn re-signs with the team is yet to be seen, but all signs are positive for the Packers fans.
