The UFC is taking it’s first trip to Orlando this April, and it will be live on FOX. UFC on FOX 11 will be headlined by the #1 Heavyweight contenders bout between Travis Browne and Fabricio Werdum. The fight was originally announced alongside Miesha Tate vs Liz Carmouche, but was not confirmed as the main event.
Today, at the UFC 169 media day, Dana White confirmed that the Browne/Werdum matchup would in fact be the main event. This will be the second FOX show in a row that will not be headlined by a title fight. Before UFC on FOX 10, the previous five FOX events were all title fights. Demetrious Johnson defended his Flyweight title at UFC on FOX 6, 8, and 9. Benson Henderson defended his Lightweight title at UFC on FOX 5 and 7.
Both Browne and Werdum are on three fight winning streaks inside the Octagon. Browne has won three straight fights via KO, while Werdum has finished his last two opponents. Both men have looked uber impressive during their respective streaks and will get a shot at UFC gold with a win in April.
As of now their is no word on a co-main event or any other bouts scheduled for the Orlando event. Stick with Fansided and we will keep you posted on all the relevant news and stories related to UFC on FOX 11.
