3-star DT Courtney Garnett commits to Oklahoma Sooners

On Thursday, the Oklahoma Sooners got a commitment from 3-star defensive tackle Courtney Garnett.

Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops got Garnett to take an official visit to Norman, Oklahoma two weeks ago and sealed the deal with an in-home visit on Thursday night.

The 6’2, 280-pound Garnett attends St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, Louisiana (which is the same school the nation’s top overall player, running back Leonard Fournette, who is committed to the LSU Tigers, attends).

Garnett is considered the 53rd best defensive tackle and the 776th overall best prospect in the class of 2014, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Garnett committed to the Texas Longhorns after camping in Austin in the summer. In early January, Garnett decided he no longer wanted to be considered a Texas commitment and opened things back up. It appeared as though Garnett was down to Oklahoma and the Tennessee Volunteers, but the Notre Dame Fighting Irish gave Garnett an offer just a few days ago and he decided to visit South Bend, Indiana this weekend.
