In a move that surprised many in the recruiting world, 4-star wide receiver  Isaiah McKenzie dropped the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from his list of schools Thursday night.

The 5’8, 175-pounder that attends American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, appeared to be ready to pick between Notre Dame, the Florida Gators and Ole Miss Rebels.

However, after the Virginia Tech Hokies came in with an offer, McKenzie decided to drop the Irish.

“I’ve been liking Virginia Tech since I’ve been 11 years old,” McKenzie told 24/7 Sports.com before receiving his Virginia Tech offer. “I (saw) Marcus Vick play. And Michael Vick and everything. I just really like them since (I was young). Nothing really popped out to me like that but I just really like them. They came by today and they looked at my film. They said they’ll get back to me by this weekend to see if they’ll offer me or not.”

McKenzie also called the Hokies his “dream school” and will now take a visit to Blacksburg this weekend.

McKenzie visited Florida on the weekend of January 17 and Ole Miss last weekend.
