Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com is reporting that the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are finished with their arbitration eligible players.
Their final arbitration eligible player was David Freese, acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in a trade that included Peter Bourjos. The two sides agreed Friday afternoon on a one-year, $5.05 million contract. Freese earned $3.15 million with the Cards last season.
Freese, going into his age-30 season, earned World Series MVP honors in 2011 but fell off the map of productivity in 2013. In 138 games for St. Louis, Freese hit .262/.340/.721 with 9 homers and 60 RBI.
The 2012 All-Star will be the Angels’ starting third baseman going into the 2014 season.
