Heading into their five game road trip before the start of the Winter Olympics, the Vancouver Canucks will be without another one of their talented players. This time, it’s Kevin Bieksa, with the reason being unknown at this time.
Bieksa played 23 minutes in Vancouver’s 5-2 loss to Chicago on Wednesday night, and then missed practice on Thursday. Assistant coach Mike Sullivan said it’s more than just a maintenance day.
“He is not going to join us on the trip,” Sullivan said. “We don’t know the details of it yet. When we get more information we’ll update you.”
Bieksa is just another name on a long list of injuries for the Canucks, who have lost three of their last four and 11 of their last 15 games overall. If injuries weren’t bad enough, the team’s coach John Tortorella also will miss the Canucks’ last game.
Coach John Tortorella also has one game left in his six-game suspension for trying to get into Calgary’s locker-room after a first-period line brawl Jan. 18.
Tortorella will sit out Friday game’s at Winnipeg before returning Monday against Detroit.
