In a few hours, David Stern will end his 30-year reign as NBA Commissioner, giving way to Adam Silver.
Despite some issues, Stern is widely viewed as the best commissioner of the four major American sports in the past few decades and seeing him step away is going to be odd – especially for Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
Cuban and Stern have formed some strange love-hate relationship which has seen the eccentric Mavericks owner be fined twenty times for nearly $2 million dollars.
Despite that, the two have shared some special moments over the years, including today when Cuban posted a selfie of himself and Stern on the commissioners final day in office.
Along with the phone came this caption:
“Celebrating the commissioners final day in the office. Yes we are.. CLOSE friends.”
Good to see the two going out on a happy note.
Our best wishes to Mr. Stern in his retirement, though, I’ll miss the booing every June at the NBA Draft. That was always so fun.
