The Sacramento Kings were hopeful that DeMarcus Cousins would return to the lineup on Friday night, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
The big man has missed a handful of games this past week after suffering a nasty ankle sprain against the Houston Rockets on January 22nd. Cousins was placed in a walking boot and was hobbling around on crunches for a few days but there was hope the swelling has gone down and he’d be able to take the court in Dallas.
That still could possibly happen if he tests things out before the game and everything feels good, but as of now, the All-Star snub is doubtful against Dallas according to the Sacramento Bee’s Jason Jones.
Malone said he is not “optimistic” DeMarcus Cousins will play tonight at Dallas.
The Kings face a back-to-back scenario as they’ll be in San Antonio to play the Spurs on Saturday evening, so it’s possible the Kings and Cousins will shoot for a return on the second half of their Texas two-step. But for now, he remains unlikely to play on Friday night.
