The Milwaukee Bucks have one goal this season – get the top overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Of course, thanks to the lottery there’s no guarantee they’ll be able to do so, but they’re certainly going to come away with a high quality pick when all is said and done.
They also may be able to come away with some youth and/or additional draft picks if they play their cards right during the upcoming NBA trade deadline.
Milwaukee has a handful of veteran players on expiring contracts like Caron Butler and Luke Ridnour who could be moved, but according to Joel Brigham of Basketball Insiders, Ersan Ilyasova is a name to watch.
I think if anybody were traded, it’d be Ersan Ilyasova. His contract isn’t awful and he could be very productive in the right system (Houston?)
Unlike Ridnour or Butler, who’d be nothing more than a half-season rental for the acquiring team, Ilyasova is signed through the 2016-17 season on what many would deem a relatively team friendly contract (assuming he plays up to his talent level).
Ilyasova would likely bring the best return of any Bucks trade pieces.
