NBA Rumors: Rajon Rondo intrigued with becoming free agent

Earlier this week, Rajon Rondo said he wouldn’t mind re-signing with the Boston Celtics long term.

That’s a bit of a far cry from his most recent comments, suggesting he’s intrigued by the idea of free agency.

The Celtics point guard is signed through next season (2014-15) and the Celtics have reportedly put a contract extension on the table for Rondo, but his recent comments seem to suggest he isn’t rushing to get a deal done.

Rajon Rondo said he hasn’t put serious thought into free agency but it’s something that’s intrigues him like “college recruitment” #celtics

There’s not much reason for Rondo to commit long term to the Celtics at this point as he likely wants to see what will happen in free agency and the draft. Still, it has to be a little concerning to green and white faithful that Rondo seems to have some interest in the courting of free agency.

Barring a trade though, Rondo still has a season and a half (at minimum) in Boston.
