The signing of Andrew Bynum became news about seven hours ago, and the Pacers are showing their appreciation for the former Cleveland Cavalier.
After the Cavs released Bynum, there was a lot of speculation about where he would end up. Many commentators were correct to believe he would go to a championship contender. Bynum provides the Pacers with a backup to their All-Star center, Roy Hibbert. As a former All-Star, Bynum will be productive in the low post, and give the Pacers an extra weapon in big games.
The Indiana Pacers are currently first in the Eastern Conference at 35-10. The Pacers are followed by the Miami Heat (32-13). The Heat field a smaller lineup, and the addition of Bynum will complicate their ability to defeat the Pacers.
It is difficult to foresee the Pacers playing anyone else but the Heat in the Eastern Conference Championship. The Toronto Raptors are third in the conference at 25-21, which is a worse record than the Dallas Mavericks, the eighth best team in the West.
