PGA Tour: Waste Management Phoenix Open sets single day attendance record

According to the PGA Tour, the Waste Management Phoenix Open set a single day attendance record during the third round with 189,722 spectators.

The Phoenix Open broke its own record set during the third round of the 2013 edition with 179,022 spectators.  The Saturday before the Super Bowl has been the greatest draw at the Phoenix Open over the last 20 years.

In 2012 and 2013, the Waste Management Phoenix Open drew over 500,000 spectators for the week (including practice rounds).  The tournament record was set in 2008 when it drew 538,356 spectators.  The Super Bowl was played in Phoenix that year with the New York Giants defeating the New England Patriots.

Currently, Bubba Watson is leading the tournament by two strokes over Harris English and Kevin Stadler.  Watson is at 15-under total with one hole to play.

Ryan Moore shot a seven-under 64 to get to 12-under total. He is tied with Hideki Matsuyama.

Brendan Steele shot the round of the tournament by firing a nine-under 62 to jump into T6 at 11-under total.  Steele is tied with Hunter Mahan and Pat Perez.
