Tonight is Phil Knight bobblehead night at UO

Finally, after what seemed like eons of waiting, one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year will occur this weekend. What, you think it’s the Super Bowl? Pshaw. Nobody cares about that. No, what’s happening in Eugene on Saturday night is far more exciting than any boring ol’ football game.

It’s Phil Knight bobblehead night!

(Okay, technically it’s “Appreciation Knight,” which is part of the University of Oregon’s “Phil It UP” campaign, but those puns are just too cringe-worthy even for me.)

All fans in attendance when the Ducks take on the USC Trojans tonight will receiver the souvenir.

Check it out:

Oh, and in case you haven’t been following the bobblehead story — do you live under a rock or something? — the mystery as to what shoes Uncle Phil is wearing has been solved. According to longtime Nike employee Mark Pilkenton, who collaborated with Knight on the design, the shoes rocked by the figurine are modeled after a custom pair the Nike co-founder often sports.

The bobblehead also doubles as an oracle, nodding affirmatively when you ask it if Nike will continue providing the Ducks with ridiculous uniforms.
