College basketball rankings: Syracuse to take over top spot following Cal upset of Arizona

Saturday night was one of the more eventful days in the 2013-14 college basketball season. In the last game of the night, the number one team in the country, the Arizona Wildcats, were stunned on the road by the California Golden Bears, ending their bid at an undefeated season.

So now, the team who put on the most impressive showing on Saturday and did remain unbeaten, will take over the top slot.

Say hello to your new number one team in the country, Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse Orange.

In the marquee game on Saturday, Boeheim and his squad fought their way to an overtime victory over the Duke Blue Devils in what will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the premiere games of the entire season when all is said and done.

Syracuse, in just their first season as a member of the ACC, may not finish the season undefeated neither, seeing as they have a return meeting with Duke coming up in three weeks inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.

But for now, they are unblemished, and come Monday, that fact will earn them the top spot in the AP Poll.
