The Louisville Cardinals had a fantastic weekend on the recruiting trail, landing 3-star wide receiver Charles Standberry and three-star cornerback Trumaine Washington.
The 6’3, 200-pound Standberry, who attends Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama, committed to the Ole Miss Rebels back in June. He took an official visit to Oxford, Mississippi on the weekend of January 24 and enjoyed himself, but decided to visit Louisville this weekend and see what new head coach Bobby Petrino and his staff had to offer. He obviously enjoyed himself.
Standberry is projected as a tight end according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings and they rank him as the 39th best tight end prospect in the class of 2014.
Washington, a 5-11, 170-pound cornerback, attends Killian High School in Miami, Florida. He originally committed to the Appalachian State Mountaineers, but decommitted in late December to make a pledge to the Akron Zips. However, Washington’s stock continued to rise. He took official visits to Louisville and Syracuse over the past two weeks and finally decided on the Cardinals.
According to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings, Washington is the 99th best cornerback prospect in the class of 2014.
