Could the Los Angeles Lakers send Pau Gasol to a division rival? Seems a little far fetched, but according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, it’s a complete possibility as the Suns are currently looking into the feasibility of such a deal.

The Suns have been more than open about their buying stance come the upcoming NBA trade deadline, though, it’s difficult to predict as to what the Suns would be parting with. They do have a handful of first round picks, so it’s possible they could send a draft selection along with Emeka Okafor (expiring contract) for Gasol – though that’s nothing more than pure speculation.
Gasol would certainly qualify as the ‘big piece’ the Suns are looking for and he also won’t hurt their cap space financially moving forward, so it’s a move that seemingly makes sense on their part. As for the Lakers, if they could get an equally as large expiring in return alongside a draft pick – hard to say no to that given their current lottery-bound situation.
