After an upset-filled Saturday started the month with some huge percentages going down all day long, many Streak for the Cash entries start the day either in the red or with short winning streaks. If you managed to make it through the day with a winning streak, congratulations! Even if you didn’t, there are plenty of chances to get things going today as the Streak for the Cash board keeps things rolling with picks from the Super Bowl, Groundhog Day, and early picks from the NBA, college basketball, and the NHL on this Super Sunday.

Each day, I’ll give you my picks for the day with a quick capsule of why I’m going that way as well as my confidence on a scale of 1-10. There is also a newly-minted Fansided group which is open to the public and free to join by clicking here of by searching for Fansided in the Group Directory page.  Here’s my picks for today and my results so far this month:

2/2 Streak Picks

7:20- Yes – 6 More Weeks of Winter: The groundhog day prop is a SFTC classic, but obviously a pretty unpredictable one.  Since Phil has checked for his shadow (1887), he’s only picked early spring 14% of the time.  One of those 16 times was last year, but he’s never picked early spring two years in a row. Confidence-4

11:00- Arsenal wins by 2+ Goals: Arsenal has won their last four home games by multiple goals and beat Crystal Palace 2-0 the first time they met at the Selhurst Park which is the home pitch of Palace. Confidence-7

11:30- Penn State Nittany Lions: Penn State is favored by four over the visiting Boilermakers and have pulled off back-to-back wins after starting the Big Ten season 0-6.  In their last game they knocked off Ohio State in Columbus. These two teams met on 1/18 and Purdue won by a point at home, but I think this one goes the other way since it’ll be in University Park at the Bryce Jordan Center. Confidence-5

12:30- Pittsburgh Panthers: Pitt hosts the Cavaliers of Virginia and are also four-point favorites at home. Since I think the Panthers are a much better team than Penn State, I think they are less likely to get upset at home. Confidence-6

12:30- Detroit Red Wings: The Red Wings have struggled on the road but they won on Friday in a shootout over the same Capitals they’ll face in this game. Washington has lost nine of their last 11 and don’t inspire enough confidence to take them to get the win even on their home ice. Neither side is really a great pick, but I’d lean Detroit. Confidence-3

1:00- Montreal Canadiens: In the only other NHL game today, it’s an all-Canadian matchup as the Jets fly to Montreal to face the Canadiens. Montreal won the earlier matchup this season 3-0 but is coming off an OT loss to Tampa yesterday while Winnipeg’s last game was a win Friday over Vancouver. Montreal should be able to bounce back with a win but the Jets have been playing well lately, so it’s definitely not a lock. Confidence-4

1:00- Boston Celtics: Boston has been bad lately including dropping their last four games including three at home.  However, Orlando is just 3-21 on the road this year and the C’s have taken two of their previous three meetings. Confidence-5

Jan 30, 2014; Ann Arbor, MI, USA; Michigan Wolverines forward Jordan Morgan (52) dunks in the first half against the Purdue Boilermakers at Crisler Arena. Mandatory Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

1:00- Michigan Wolverines: The tenth ranked Wolverines are two-point favorites as they head into Bloomington to face an Indiana team that has been wildly inconsistent this season.  The Hoosiers were able to knock off Wisconsin but since then have lost three of four including ugly losses to Northwestern and Nebraska.  Look for the Wolverines to emerge from this one even though the environment is sure to be a hostile one. Confidence-6

2:00- Duke Blue Devils: Duke hosts Notre Dame in a matchup of teams who are unbeaten in ACC play.  The Devils only loss came to UConn while Notre Dame comes in undefeated. Cameron will be rocking, and I think Duke uses their home court advantage to get the win. Confidence-3

2:30- UCLA Bruins: The Bruins are five-point road favorites as they travel to Oregon State who have won three of their last four overall and nine of their last ten at home.  They haven’t hosted any of the bit Pac-12 teams, though, so I still think the Bruins come away with their fourth win in a row. UCLA has won five of six since losing a close one to Arizona. Confidence-6

6:20- Tails: If there was ever a coin-flip pick, this is it. Truly a 50-50 proposition. Confidence-1

6:25- Denver Broncos: The story of the season has been Peyton and the Broncos offense. They’ve turned into an uber-efficient machine in the playoffs and I think they’ll get just enough done against a Seattle team with no Super Bowl Experience to win a close one. Confidence-4

6:26- No at least 1 doesn’t throw TD pass in 1st Half: Peyton throws a touchdown every quarter it seems, but Russell Wilson doesn’t. Seattle ususally rushes for their TDs and will be reliant on their running game to help key Manning on the sidelines. This is a tough one, but I’m leaning no. Confidence-3

8:25- Seahawks score more points in 2nd half or Tie: Since I do think the game will be close, I’ll take Seattle in this second-half prop, but I’ll let you know if the first half changes this pick on my @ZT_Sports account on twitter.
