The Minnesota Golden Gophers successfully flipped three-star defensive tackle Gary Moore (Mobile, Al. Murphy) from Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles today and Moore becomes the 18th commitment for head coach Jerry Kill.
At 6-4, 285-pounds and 4.7 speed in the 40, Moore is an underrated prospect who could develop into an important at the center of the Minnesota defense. Moore ranked as the No. 1,878 recruit overall and the No. 110 defensive tackle and didn’t have any other BCS offers besides Minnesota.
His combination of size, speed and athleticism is too much for Moore to be ranked that low so we could be looking back at Moore two or three years from now as one of the bigger steals across the country.
Moore joins fellow three-star defensive tackle commit Steven Williams (Chicago, Ill. Mount Carmel) as players who will have the tall task of replacing Ra’Shede Hageman who could be a first round pick this May after dominating at defensive tackle this past season for Minnesota.
Moore visited Minnesota on the weekend of Jan. 24 after he committed to Southern Miss on Oct. 21.
