Pitchers and catchers (depending on the camp) report in as soon as three days. Because of this, there’s likely to be a rush on available free agents – players the Arizona Diamondbacks want to take another glance at according to Inside The D-backs.
D-backs team president and CEO Derrick Hall said that the team will make one more pass through their free agent list to see if a match can be found.
“We owe it to ourselves to at least see what the remaining free agents are looking for,” Hall said.
It’s not know what the Diamondbacks are looking for specifically, though, they were in on the Masahiro Tanaka bidding so one could assume they may be interested in another starter.
If so, there are plenty of solid names still available like Bronson Arroyo, Ubaldo Jimenez or Ervin Santana, though they might be a little too expensive for the Diamondbacks – especially Santana and Jimenez. Arroyo could be a more likely interest as he comes without draft pick compensation attached.
The D’Backs were reportedly interested in Matt Garza before he signed with the Milwaukee Brewers.
