NBA Rumors: Nene says referees allow Kevin Durant to carry the ball

The last thing Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant needs is the power of the ‘star call’, but according to Washington Wizards big man Nene Hilario, he gets it.

The veteran center helped his Wizards shockingly defeat the Thunder on Saturday night and had some choice words for referees, suggesting they allow Durant to carry the ball.

Nene had nothing but praise for the NBA’s leading scorer, Kevin Durant, but took a polite dig at him, too.

“First of all, pray,” he said of how the Wizards were able to hold Durant to 8-for-21 shooting. “Second, have good luck. The third,  do your best. That dude is very skilled, long body, tall, skinny but strong for that kind of body — and the referees are allowing him to carry the ball.”

Nene likely has a point as Durant does tend to carry the ball quite often – but he’s far from alone in doing so. The league reportedly told referees to pay more attention to players carrying in the recent past, but they’ve seemingly stopped looking for the violation as it’s very rarely called.
