Purell apologizes for trolling Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns during Super Bowl

Hand sanitizer brand Purell is spending Monday cleaning up more than germs as the company apologized for mocking the Cleveland Browns on Sunday evening during the Super Bowl.

Purell’s Twitter account decided to troll the Denver Broncos sub-par play, comparing them to the Cleveland Browns. It was actually a pretty good joke (sorry Browns fans) given the moment, but it was quickly deleted.

Of course, being the internet, it’s never really gone and multiple fans were able to grab a screenshot of the tweet which read:

The #Broncos could use a @PURELL refresh moment, because right now they look like the Cleveland Browns

There’s really nothing wrong with that at all in my opinion, but the company felt otherwise and sent out the following message this morning:

fans @Purell apologize for the insensitive post. We are investigating the source and we will take appropriate action.

It was all in good fun, so not sure why there was any outrage.

Regardless, Purell says they’re sorry.
