There’s a pretty good chance you remember Alexi Lalas, an important member of the United States soccer team which participated in the 1994 World Cup.
If you don’t remember Lalas by name, you’ll likely recall his fire red hair.
Lalas eventually began playing in the MLS after the World Cup and eventually moved into a front office role before retiring and taking up broadcasting.
That’s exactly what the former defender was doing recently as he, Taylor Twellman and Adrian Healey broadcast the USA-South Korea international friendly that took place this past weekend.
Lalas began to recall the time he spent with former LA Galaxy teammate and current South Korea manager Hong Myung-Bo, which included eating dog meat.
Yep, you read that correctly – Lalas began to tell a story where he and Myung-Bo dined on man’s best friend. On ESPN.
Both Twellman and Healey were relatively silent throughout the entire story (what could they say?!) before Twellman asked a ice breaking question and moved on with a seamless transition.
Dealt with that awkward conversation like a pro.
