Russell Wilson plans to be at Rangers Spring Training

They say there’s no rest for the weary, and it looks like that’s the case for the Super Bowl winning quarterback.

Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reports that Mark Rodgers, the baseball agent for Russell Wilson, says that the Seahawks QB still has plans on reporting to Surprise, Arizona for Spring Training. Wilson was selected as a Rule-5 Draft pick by Jon Daniels and company in December, not with the idea of him actually playing second base (his position coming up through the Rockies’ system), but in hopes that he would talk to some of their younger players.

Daniels has long praised Wilson’s leadership ability and work ethic. After a dominating performance by Wilson in the Super Bowl, the time seems to be right to have him speak to younger minor leaguers and set an example of how to go about business on the field. Rodgers went on to say that Wilson would love to continue to maintain a relationship with the Rangers organization.
