2014 Guinness International Champions Cup teams and locations revealed

The 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup line up has been revealed and it is an all star line up of teams. Big European clubs like AC Milan, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Olympiacos, Real Madrid and AS Roma will compete in the contest.

From Sports Illustrated:

The tournament will take place from July 26 to August 4 in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C. and Miami. (There will be at least one additional venue that has yet to be finalized.)

Unlike last year’s event, which was played with a bracket, this year’s ICC will have two four-team groups. The winners of each group will meet in the final at SunLife Stadium near Miami.

It is a chance to see some of the world’s biggest stars like Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

This tourney will be played 2 weeks after the world cup. Suarez or Ronaldo will most likely not play.

Ronaldo (Portugal ) and Suarez (Uruguay) most likely wont get to the Finals so they will have atleast 3/4 weaks of vacation before the teams come to the US.

Have they announced who will play in Chicago?

Unfortunately the big clubs usually only send their second or third squads, but we can pretend that the big names came to the states. :/

Also, we’ll all be surprised if there’s a Man U after this season ends…

Ticketmaster is showing that Liverpool will face AC Milan in Charlotte and not Manchester City as previously reported. I’m going anyway!
