The Syracuse Orange got good news on the eve of National Signing Day. 3-star wide receiver Steve Ishmael committed to the Orange.
The 6’2, 170-pounder attends North Miami Beach Senior High School in Miami, Florida, an area the Orange recruit heavily.
The Syracuse coaching staff obviously does a good job in the south because Ishmael specifically cited them when he was asked about his commitment.
“Coach (George) McDonald and Coach (Scott) Shafer were the biggest reasons,” Ishmael told Chris Carlson of the Post-Standard. “I felt real comfortable with them. And I have Ritchy (Desir) taking care of me, and my guy Alin (Edouard) at quarterback.”
Ishmael believes he will become part of an excellent wide receiver group.
“They’ve got a good group of wide receivers there with Jarrod West, Alvin Cornelius and Bristly (Estime),” Ishmael said. “Hopefully with me and K.J. (Williams) coming in, we can take it to another level.”
Ishmael is considered the 91st best wide receiver prospect, the 93rd best overall prospect in the state of Florida and the 651st best overall prospect in the class of 2014.
Louisville was Ishmael’s other finalist. He was also very interested in Boston College, Cincinnati and Illinois, among others.
