Charlie Manuel to go on Phillies’ Wall of Fame

The manager with the most wins in Phillies history is going to be immortalized.

Todd Zolecki of MLB.com says that Charlie Manuel is the next person to be put on the Wall of Fame for Philadelphia. The induction ceremony will be on August 9th during the Phillies’ Alumni Weekend.

Manuel, who spent nine years with the Phillies, went on to win a World Series and 2 National League championships during his tenure. He was released from his duties this past season after winning his 1,000th career game. He was replaced by then-third-base coach Ryne Sandberg, but will serve 2014 as the senior advisor to General Manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. He finished his tenure in Philadelphia with a 780-636 record and five first place finishes.
