It would seem as if the Netflix drama House of Cards has received a huge vote of confidence from the online streaming service. Even though we are still days away from the release of Season 2 of the political drama, Netflix confirmed that they are renewing the series for a Season 3. This is according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Originally, the show was packaged as a two season deal, but with the success of the show as great as it has been, all parties involved felt like this was the right move.
Netflix touts that the show has done very well in the ratings; however, it is standard policy around Netflix not to divulge the actual numbers. I don’t believe that they have ever explained their reasoning for this; however, the company is in what is largely uncharted territory, so there is nothing saying that they have to. The same policy has carried over to their other original series like Orange is the New Black and Hemlock Grove.
This season, we will watch as Frank Underwood, played in the series by Kevin Spacey, will make his ascent to the White House as the Vice President; however, as is with most cases, a rise to power is always met with some form of opposition. This is no different for Underwood.
House of Cards Season 2 is scheduled to be released on Friday, February 14th on Netflix.
