Padres will not pursue Bronson Arroyo

Bronson Arroyo is running out of time and running out of teams.

Dennis Lin of UT San Diego indicates that the Padres are currently satisfied with the rotation they have going into Spring Training. He says that the team could bring in another arm for depth purposes, but with Arroyo’s asking price at what it is, the Friars won’t be after him any time soon. San Diego’s payroll has already been upped by more than 25% and is nearing $87 million, which would be a franchise record.

Arroyo is still reportedly looking for a deal very similar to his previous contract with Cincinnati which was for three-years and $35 million. There are teams on the West coast interested in the 37-year old right hander, including the Dodgers, Angels, and Diamondbacks.
