The Texas Rangers raised some eyebrows when they drafted Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in the Rule 5 draft. Wilson was reportedly going to attend the Rangers’ spring training sessions, but now with a busy schedule as a Super Bowl winning quarterback he might not be making the trip.

“I know he was honored to be drafted by the Rangers, but there is no pressure or obligation to report,” Wilson’s agent Mark Rodgers said, via ESPN Dallas. “Ideally, people will allow Russell to enjoy the Super Bowl victory and relish in that accomplishment before making any firm commitments for the offseason.”

He has a busy schedule now, he appeared on the David Letterman show and at a Brooklyn Nets game all in the same night. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels understands he is getting bombarded with media requests.

“We’ll connect when he comes up for air,” Daniels said.
