Seahawks will host 2014 NFL regular season opener on Sept. 4

While we will need to wait until later this year to see the official NFL schedule for the 2014-15 regular season, we do know that the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will be kicking off the new year at CenturyLink Field on September 4.

The league has not announced who the Seahawks will be facing in the season-opener, but there are plenty of intriguing options.

Seattle has their home opponents for the 2014 season set as the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers.

There is a real chance that the league could look to start the 2014 season with a rematch of the Super Bowl against Denver, but an NFC Championship rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers would be equally as entertaining.

Of course, the NFL prefers to keep divisional match ups later in the season, so they could keep that game for later down the road.

If there was a dark horse candidate to face the Seahawks when the new season starts, it would be the Dallas Cowboys, who always bring in the high ratings.
