In a move that had been expected since the weekend three-star defensive end Sione Teuhema and younger brother and five-star offensive lineman Maea Teuhema decommitted from the Texas Longhorns.
The brothers from Keller high school in Texas spent last week on a visit to the LSU Tigers where it is expected the 6-3, 217-pound weakside defensive end will commit to Les Miles and the Tigers on national signing day. Sione ranks as the nation’s No. 353 player in the nation and the No. 19 weakside defensive end.
LSU has been in search of a pass rusher in this class and despite their best efforts to land five-star weakside defensive end Lorenzo Carter, it appears he’s headed elsewhere with the in-state Georgia Bulldogs the favorite to land his commitment.
Sione’s younger brother Maea is a five-star prospect and the No. 3 offensive tackle in next year’s class. LSU could pull off a package deal on signing day by adding Maea to their class of 2015.
There are always a few surprises the days leading up to signing day and this certainly would classify as a pleasant surprise for LSU and a tough break for Charlie Strong’s Longhorns.
