UFC 172 card coming together

The UFC is making it’s first trip to Baltimore, Maryland this April and they have put together quite the event thus far. In the main event of the evening, Light Heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, takes on the heavy handed Brazilian prospect, Glover Teixeira.

Today, the UFC announced the re-signing of Anthony Johnson, who will return to action against Phil Davis at UFC 172 as well. Johnson is on a six fight winning streak, while Davis is on a three fight winning streak.

Two bouts that were scheduled, but never came to fruition due to injuries were rebooked for this card as well. Former StrikeForce Welterweight champion, Tarec Saffiedine, will take on Jake Ellenberger in a rescheduling of their UFC Fight Night 34 bout. Saffiedine instead fought, and defeated by decision, Hyun Gyu Lim in a fantastic main event.

The other rescheduled bout is between former StrikeForce Middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold, and Tim Boetsch. The two were set to battle at UFC 166, but Rockhold was forced to withdraw due to an injury. Boetsch fought CB Dollaway, and defeated him by controversial split decision.

The card is absolutely stacked thus far, and is an early candidate for card of the year. Check out all of the announced UFC 172 bouts below.
