On Tuesday, 4-star running back Varshaun Nixon flipped his commitment from the Texas A&M Aggies to the Texas Christian Horned Frogs.
The 5’9, 185-pound Nixon attends Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, but he and the Texas Longhorns didn’t appear to have that much interest in each other. Instead, Nixon looked at the other in-state schools and wound up committing to Texas A&M back in late November as the college football regular season came to a close.
Then, on the weekend January 24, Nixon took his official visit to College Station to check out Texas A&M. Although Nixon liked Texas A&M throughout the process, he decided to take a visit to Fort Worth and check out TCU over the weekend.
After that trip, Nixon decomitted from Texas A&M.
Nixon is considered the fifth best all-purpose running back prospect, the 22nd best overall prospect in the state of Texas and the 182nd best overall prospect in the class of 2014, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Nixon also had offers from the Clemson Tigers, SMU Mustangs and Texas Tech Red Raiders, among others.
