Diego Brandao vs Will Chope set for UFC Fight Night 38

UFC Fight Night 38 is quickly adding on exciting bouts, and yet another can be added to the list. Today, the UFC announced a Featherweight collision between Diego Brandao and Will Chope. There is no word yet as to where this bout will be on the card.

Brandao, The Ultimate Fighter season 14 winner, is coming off a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 168. Brandao has shown flashes of brilliance inside the Octagon, but his fight IQ and stamina consistently fail him. Brandao was knocking people out left and right on TUF, but has yet to show that power in the big show. That can be attested to his opponents planning for Brandao’s power, and Brandao not effectively mixing up his strikes. Brandao is 4-2 in the UFC, but his two losses have come against top tier competition. If Brandao is able to get another few wins, expect the UFC to give him one more shot at an elite level fighter.

Will Chope is essentially being fed to the lions in this bout. After losing his UFC debut back at UFC Fight Night 34 to Max Holloway by TKO, the UFC booked Chope against an even deadlier striker in Brandao. Before losing to Holloway, Chope had racked up 14 straight victories and only two were by decision. If Chope is able to beat Brandao, it would be a huge feather in his cap.
